Experience Christmas
This past Sunday, Lexington Baptist Church had a profound worship service called “Experience Christmas”. The songs were worship’FULL’ and the message was right on point. I’ve included a link below so you’re able to view the service, and if you’re particularly interested in the message, it begins at the 1:02 mark. https://lexingtonbaptist.org/media/live (December 11 @ 11AM).
Dr. Turner led us to Titus 3:4-7 and gave us three points to consider in asking ourselves the question, ‘How can we get the most out of Christmas’.
Focus on ‘the event’…
God our Savior appeared.
He saved us; we are justified by His grace.
We become heirs with the hope of eternal life. We now have the privilege of relationship with Jesus.
The attributes of the Christmas season are not the reason for Christmas. Presents, decorations, relationships, shows, gatherings, and whatever else comes affectionately to your mind when you think of the Christmas season, are merely attributes of the season. They can be enjoyable for those who experience them, and can create a sense of a void for those who aren’t able to. The more we promote the attributes, the more we open the door for despair for those who don’t have similar opportunities, and what a shame there should be any despair during the Christmas season. As followers of Christ, we are vessels to proclaim the event that every person in every place in all circumstances can experience. Emmanuel! “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared…”. The gift of salvation is awaiting all, and with that gift comes a washing, renewing, justifying, and being made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. To be in relationship with God is the greatest human experience known to man. I am a living testimony to that reality.
“O taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8
“In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11
May you know and experience this reality this Christmas season.
“But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we did in righteousness, but in accordance with His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He richly poured out upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” Titus 3:4-6.
